  • Rosemary

Rosemary is an evergreen shrub that has been used for centuries as a culinary herb, fragrance and for its antioxidant properties. The plant has grown wild in several regions of the world but is relatively new to China where it has been developed as a cultivated plant in the last 40 years.

Our rosemary fields are in the southern area of central China. Crops are harvested twice per year after growing in a region known for clean air and blue skies. Our agronomists are entrenched in the community. Cultivation allows for naturally higher levels of carnosic and rosemaric acids in the plant as well as careful agronomic stewardship of the land.

    Extract specification

Rosemary progresses through 4 stages after harvest to create our high-quality extracts: leaf drying, extraction, refining and formulation.

Leaf Drying: The drying factories for rosemary are in close proximity to the farms. This allows for close and continual monitoring of our supply chain, a key step in our traceability and transparency program.

Extract Techniques: Dried rosemary leaf is met at the new and state of the art extract factory by our Q.A. and Q.C. technical staff to confirm the next step of traceability. Here, 20 years of experience guides the dynamic refluence extract process, which features lower solvent usage and results in improved yield and lower cost.
As the process protects the carnosic acid, our specification includes it in addition to total carnosic acid and carnosol levels. This is relevant as the antioxidant performance of carnosol is only 60% as carnosic acid.

Refinery Techniques: New refinery techniques are used to deliver rosemary extracts that are odorless and light in color.

Formulation: A variety of product forms are developed from the refined and unrefined extracts to meet the varying solubility and product form requirements for the food and beverage industries.

NOTE: Reduced odor and color versions available for each product. Customized products are available upon request.
